that guy from the get-together

<--he wants to be known for the love, the music... and the good hair

unbeknownst to good hair, the get-together where I met him was the beginning of a quick and comprehensive unraveling of what I had thought to be (at that point anyway) pretty solid life plans

he was really sociable and yet, barring myself, the most out of place person there

he was also the only person who I felt wanted to have a genuine conversation with me

when I brought up anxiety and depression (I'm super fun)-- I remember his whole manner changing

I remember being struck by how fast and how willing he was to be vulnerable

and I remember feeling so grateful for it and somehow inexplicably sad

later I understood it broke my heart that a stranger was willing to let me in more than everyone I had, at that time, considered close

...

if all that schmaltz made your eyes stray and you were wondering--

he says the bass guitar is called Olivia :)

despite what he told me he wants his photo to convey, what I find most telling about it is what isn't pictured

he chose one in which he's performing but turned away from the camera

what better way to capture the bubbly guy with hidden depths who accidentally changed me
